Warranties are in place to remedy abnormal breakage from normal use or for manufacturer defects.
What’s NOT covered under warranty:
As warranties are meant for manufacturing defects, normal wear and tear are not covered under warranty. Normal wear and tear includes:
- Faded graphics
- Small dents/scratches from play
- Markings from pickleballs
Warranties also do not cover improper use, maintenance, storage, accidents, unauthorized alterations, etc.
Damage from your paddle hitting the ground, the court floor, or hitting any object other than a pickleball (such as exposed graphite core, damage to the edgeguard, face separation, scuffs, chipping, etc) will not be covered under warranty.
Damage and decomposition due to improper storage and exposure to extreme cold or high temperatures and humidity are also not covered. Paddles should not be stored in car trunks or garages, as extreme cold can lead to cracking, and extreme heat (such as sitting on a searing hot court for long periods of time) can lead to the glue softening.
Cracks, chips, and other damage around the edge of the are not covered under warranty as this damage would not come from just hitting pickleballs.
What is covered under warranty?
There are a couple of key terms when discussing warranties for pickleball paddles.
DELAMINATION: this is an umbrella term for two issues covered under warranty:
- FACE SEPARATION: If you knock your knuckles against this type of delaminated paddle, the sound will be loud/hollow rather than the lower/dense sound of a normal paddle. This is covered under warranty.
- CORE CRUSHING: If you take the paddle and press your thumbs firmly into the middle of the paddle and you hear a crackling/crunchy sound, the core of your paddle is crushed. This is covered under warranty.
BUMPER DETACHMENT: If the bumper of the paddle detaches from the face abnormally (i.e. not from a physical blow), this is covered under warranty.
If these or something else you believe to be a manufacturing defect or abnormal breakage are the issue with your paddle, please proceed to the next section for instructions on how to submit a warranty claim for your paddle.

How to submit a warranty claim:
First, please see the below list of brands and if your paddle is still covered under warranty. Please keep in mind that the warranty starts the day of the paddle’s purchase. If you cannot recall the date of purchase, please feel free to give us a call so we can check our system.
All paddle warranties except for Selkirk and Selkirk SLK are processed in-store at Rackets & Runners. If it is still within the warranty period, please email us a picture of your defective paddle at info@racketsandrunners.ca with a description of the issue. If your paddle is from Selkirk or Selkirk SLK, you will need to deal with Selkirk directly via this link here.
Once we receive your email, we will determine if the paddle issue is covered under warranty. Please note that all paddles are subject to managerial inspection to determine eligibility. If your paddle is determined to be defective, there is a chance that it will need to be brought into the store/mailed to the store depending on the brand. If we determine that the paddle is indeed covered under warranty, you will need to bring the paddle into the store or ship it to the following address through courier or Canada Post:
3880 Oak Street
Vancouver, BC, V6H 2M5
If the manufacturer’s defect occurs in the first 30 days, we will cover the cost of shipping.
If the defect occurs after this 30-day period, you will need to cover the shipping costs for shipping us the defective paddle and for the shipping of the replacement paddle back to you. Please understand that we are merely a retailer of the paddles and therefore are required to follow the brand’s policies regarding warranty issues. Many brands require that the physical paddle be shipped to us for examination, and as we are a small family business it is not feasible for us to pay for the customers’ free shipping of shipping a paddle out, paying for return shipping for warranty examination, and paying for the replacement paddle to ship back out to the customer.
Please note that the paddles are only covered for ONE warranty per purchase and are non-transferable, meaning that the warranty is valid only for the original purchase. The new replacement paddle provided will no longer be covered under warranty. This is true regardless of manufacturer.
