Shoe Renu

Shoe Distribution and Foot Care Clinics

Rackets and Runners partners with the Salvation Army Harbour Light, the Rotary Club of Vancouver, the Knights of Columbus, Canadian Linen and the BC Podiatric Medical Association to operate the Shoe Renu program. The program extends a compassionate hand (or shoe) to those less fortunate on the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver. We collect, clean and distribute the pre-loved walking and running shoes our customer community has kindly donated throughout the year. BC Podiatrists offer free foot care to anyone attending Shoe Renu.

It Takes a Community To Run Shoe Renu Shoe Distribution and Foot Cinics

Twice a year, in late fall and early spring, at Shoe Renu, we distribute approximately 500 pairs of freshly cleaned shoes to those who need them as well as provide foot care to anyone who may request the volunteer services of a podiatrist.

We depend on our customers to drop off pre-loved athletic and walking shoes to our store year round. Collected shoes are stored by the Knights of Columbus and commercially cleaned by Canadian Linen.  Two podiatrists from the BCPMA work with us to provide foot care services.  Shoe Renu is hosted by the Salvation Army Harbour Light at 119 E Cordova St .

A clean and comfortable pair of shoes can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Ask us about the program next time you drop by the store.
