It’s official - I am joining the Glycerin 21 fan club.

Nothing against Brooks shoes, but I have personally never been able to wear them extensively for running. Like anyone else, I have had more success with other brands and so I have stuck to my niche of shoes that have worked for me over the years. However, I admit to feeling left out because Brooks is very popular amongst all types of walkers and runners.

And then I tried the Glycerin 21...

I love shoes that I can wear for any kind of run, and I put the Glycerin 21 through all the tests; easy runs, longer runs, change of pace, and tempo’s and this shoe had no problem helping me tackle any kind of workout. I didn’t feel like I needed to break in the shoe at all as it was comfortable from the get-go. This to me is a huge bonus when I am considering new shoes to use as a daily trainer.

The Glycerin 21 to me hit that sweet spot between highly cushioned and highly responsive – which are my two indicators for knowing if a shoe is going to work for me or not. Powered by a staggering +2 millimetres of Brooks’ DNA Loft v3 foam over the previous version, this is the “secret-but-not-so-secret” key ingredient to this new model.

It has a snug fit so I found when I was running a bit quicker my foot was not moving around too much - but it wasn’t pinching my feet either and I am wider in the forefoot so that was another bonus. The traction has also been good; I have run plenty of miles now on roads and trails without feeling like I am going to slip.

We all know that feeling when you are trying on several shoes, and you are waiting for that special moment where you can say to yourself: “This is the one!”. Well, that was me for the new Glycerin 21 and I get the feeling it is going to be doing that for plenty of others throughout the Spring/Summer season!
